Effective implementation of evidence-based practice (EBP) in the clinical site or organization requires an in-depth understanding of the culture and organizational policies to be aware of possible challenges and other requirements to meet the goals and objectives of the suggested interventions. Therefore, understanding the local healthcare system and clinical setting is important for better EBP implementation as it allows the project team to identify possible barriers and leverage and optimize resources (Fossum et al., 2022). Challenges to implementing EBP like insufficient support from the management and lack of resources hinder the proposed project’s team from meeting its goals and objectives. The understanding of the challenges, barriers, and resources allows the EBP team to align nursing practice interventions with organizational values and goals and enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the interventions (McNett et al., 2021). The understanding of the systems at the local and organizational levels ensures that the EBP team tailors the suggested project to meet the specific context of the organization based on its resources, values, and policies.

Understanding the system is essential to engage stakeholders like clinicians, administrators, and patients to embrace the suggested EBP intervention for successful implementation. It also ensures the EBP team allocates resources better through effective planning and implementation and policy alignment (Melnyk et al., 2022). For instance, the EBP implementation should align with the existing policies of the clinical setting or organization. Therefore, by understanding policies and culture, providers can implement nursing practice interventions to meet the organization’s needs. Planning an EBP implementation requires the engagement of all stakeholders and sufficient allocation of resources. Therefore, understanding the health care system and clinical system at the local level is essential for the EBP team as it enhances awareness of the facilitators and barriers to the process.
